American Sign Language Made Easy for Everyone

The mission of ASMLT (say ASsiMiLaTe) is to create a universal basic knowledge of American Sign Language

ASMLT has made learning ASL easy and practical for everyone through three basic steps:

  1. Selecting specific signs.  Now everyone will know the same signs you do.  Small groups of signs are very easily learned.  (Level 1 has 25 plus the alphabet, Level 2 adds 25 for a total of 50, Level 3 totals 100, Level 4 totals 250, and Level 5 totals 500).
  2. Disemination of information.  This web page supplies all the information you need to learn American Sign Language and related information, including reasons for anyone to learn Sign.  ASMLT will offer a daily sign e-mail program that will e-mail you one sign per day, along with information on how to use that sign to create various nuances of meaning.
  3. Registered instructors.  Anyone capable of teaching ASL may register with the ASMLT and then sign ASMLT certification cards which identify you as having passed each of the levels of signing competence.  These instructors may opt to become listed on this page to help you contact them.  This is a free service.

We need your help to develop ASMLT. Help us choose basic signs for each level and find pictures to teach them we can display on this site! Please e-mail Shaun to volunteer.
