We call it the New American Dream. It's no longer just a chicken in every pot, a car in every garage. It's become a life of wealth and ease because somebody else made a mistake. Law suits offer better odds than any lottery.

Those who file suits often win enormous awards disproportionate to their suffering because a mere $100,000 just wouldn't make those corporations suffer enough to notice. Tort reform laws attempt to limit awards, but make it unfair when the damage really does deserve more than those limits. All this litigation ends up costing all of us in high insurance premiums and other spillover costs.
