dunesmap.jpg (29211 bytes)Map#1: Getting There

Take Highway 6 (Santaquin exit) from I-15, then just keep going till you hit the sand dunes sign. Turn right, drive a mile or so and turn left. Obvious signage.

saharacampmap.jpg (37456 bytes)Map #2: Campspot Directions

Pay your $8 and drive into the park. Pass the first turn off to the right. Just as you're going up a slight hill and curving left, you'll see a stop sign on the right. Turn there. If you hit an intersection, you've gone too far!

Follow the good dirt road until it divides in a Y - turn right. Soon you'll hit another Y - turn right again. When you run into the dunes, you're there! Look for a note on a stick with additional details.

Hike directly west (straight into the dunes) to find us. We'll probably camp near the top of a dune. Climb the tall dune there and look around if necessary - don't get run over! Watch for an American flag or brown 4runner with "search and rescue" stickers.

Detailed Directions:

- Take I-15 18 miles south of Provo
- Turn west at Santaquin on Highway 6 and drive about 23 miles. Go through Eureka and veer left (the main highway, toward Delta, not Tooele).
- Continue for 18 miles until you reach the Little Sahara Sand Dunes sign on your right.
- Turn right, cross the tracks, and go about 4.5 miles, then turn left into Little Sahara.
- Pay at the guard tower thing ($8 per car/day - valid until 2 p.m. the following day), then continue for 2 miles till you reach the first dirt road on your right - there's a stop sign just as you begin going up a slight hill.
- Follow the dirt road about a mile, turning right whenever you have the chance - if you don't take the last right you'll reach the dunes at a parking lot 1/5 mile south, otherwise you'll stop next to a large dune and camp will be right below it. GPS Coordinates (use UTM, NAD 27 CONUS): 12 S 0384108, 4395561
