Logos

Logos has to do with the logic of your paper. The ideas. The assertions and explanations. Everything that has to do with your writing making sense and being understandable and clear.

The first area of Logos you should work on is your content.

  • Make sure your purpose is clear throughout the paper. This doesn’t mean you have to come out and tell everything—but let readers know pretty much where you’re heading. [[[example]]]
  • Are all ideas developed fully, to the point that readers will understand and appreciate their value? Don’t be careless on this one—what may seem developed and clear to you may not seem so to others.
  • Are all assertions backed up sufficiently? Underlining all of your important assertions will help you consider this question.
  • Is your paper free from logical fallacies? These are more common than you might think. Check your paper carefully.

The other important area concerning Logos is organization. It should be clear, non-repetitive, and helpful to your purpose.
