Give me a Mountain
by shaun bradley roundy

Give me a Mountain,
A canyon to climb.
Give me an ocean
To cross.

Give me a moment
An hour to call mine
Give me a lifetime,
I’ll pay any cost.

But give me my choices
And let me run free
Give me a chance
In this world so wide
To determine just who I will be.

I’ll walk till I’m weary
I’ll run till I’m faint
I’ll spend myself pushing the line.
I’ll spread myself thin
And then pile it high
Just give me a chance and the time.

There’s something inside me
That has to get out
And it won’t let me rest till it’s gone.
It’s a long line that drives me
And I have no doubt
That I’ll never stop till it’s drawn.

So give me a challenge
I can face, see, and scale
Give me one step at a time
A thousand mile journey
I’ll laugh all the way
I’ll spend every second and dime.

But give me a finish
A place to arrive
Hot shower, warm kisses
Welcoming me.
Candle light dinners
At the end of the day
Let there be an end
To the journey.
