Justification Sheet

Along with your research paper, you must turn in a justification sheet. Answer the following questions adequately to demonstrate that you have made good choices in your writing. This sheet also help me understand exactly what you were trying to accomplish with your paper, and the more complete your answers are, the better the chances that your paper grade with improve because of them.

Also think about these questions as you write your paper. They will help keep you on track and give you ideas as well as build your awareness of the writing process. You may either copy the questions on your justification sheet or answer them in such a way that the question is apparent (ie: "1. My audience is..., who I chose because...").

  1. Who, exactly, is your audience? Why did you choose them? Most importantly, how did you tailor your paper to them?
  2. What, exactly, is the purpose of your paper? Was the purpose clear to your readers? How effectively did you accomplish your purpose?
  3. How and how successfully did you create significance in your paper?
  4. For what purposes did you employ research in writing your paper? Did you use it effectively? Did you use the right amount of research and references? Discuss and defend your answer.
  5. What other writing techniques did you use to improve the quality and effectiveness of your paper? (ie: sentence variety, action verbs, comparisons, contrasts, metaphors, etc.)
  6. What grade does your paper deserve? Why?
